Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to clean my windows before you arrive?
A: No. I will thoroughly clean the inside of your windows prior to the installation of your film.
Q: Does window film get installed on the outside or inside of my windows?
A: It is installed on the interior surface of the glass.
Q: How long can I expect my installed window film to last?
A: Manufacturer guidelines indicate that the expected useful life of the film, with due care, is 20-25 years.
Q: Do I have to worry about scratching my window film?
A: All window films that we install feature a Hard-Coat Finish that resists scratching under normal cleaning conditions.
Q: Do I have to worry about my pets scratching my window film?
A: No. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule, but I have never yet had a problem reported to me by my customers who own pets. If you have concerns on this issue, We can install an additional protective film over areas that receive abuse from your pet.
Q: Will installed window film hurt my houseplants?
A: Although different types and varieties of plants require differing amounts of visible light to thrive, none of the films that I install cut visible light transmission significantly enough to affect normal growth of most plants. If you have plants with special light needs, I will work with you to select a window film that will help you without adversely affecting your plants.
Q: Once my window film is installed, can I ever remove it?
A: Yes. If it ever becomes necessary to remove your window film, a single-edged razor blade can be used to peel up an edge of the film. The film can then be pulled off of the glass. A razor blade or scraper can then be used to remove any remaining adhesive. Please note, however, that the film is not reusable, so do not remove the film unless you no longer need solar protection.
Q: What kind of warranty do you offer?
A: A Limited Lifetime Residential Materials Warranty from the manufacturer on standard and Panorama films, and a Ten-Year (standard films) or Twelve-Year (Panorama films) Commercial Materials Warranty, and a Limited Lifetime Workmanship Warranty against lifting, peeling, bubbling, on all window film installed by Therma-Shield. These warranties are not transferable.
Q: Why don't you tint cars too?
A: Automotive window tinting is not the same as residential and commercial flat-glass window filming. Many of my competitors deal in automotive window tinting and offer residential and commercial flat-glass window filming on the side. I feel it best to specialize in flat-glass window filming, and thereby offer my clients the best possible installation quality and attention to detail.
Q: What is your Customer Service Policy?
A: Your complete satisfaction is my goal. I will give you the benefit of my knowledge and experience to help you select a window film that best meets your needs. We will do the best quality installation possible, utilizing time-tested techniques that result in a superior end product. If, for some reason, you are not satisfied with your installation, I will work with you until you are.
Q: Will you be doing the installation work?
A: Yes. Unlike most of my competitors, I do all film installation myself. I feel that you should benefit from my attention to detail as well as my years of experience in the field, and would never expect you to be satisfied with less.
Q: What is your experience in the window-filming field?
A: I have been tinting windows in the Spokane area since 1989, and have owned Therma-Shield since 1994.
